The Music

As I sit against my propped up pillow,
I lower down the book I was reading,
And wriggle out of the coziness of the bed,
I move towards the mesmerizing sound,
The superlative notes,
Flow in, out, through,
And finally engulfs my mind, body and soul,
Into a huge ocean,
Filled with trebles, basses, scales and notes,
As mysterious as the sphinx,
These enchanting notes clandestinely pull me closer,
Until I have reached the source,
I watch in approbation,
As the alacrity of the fingers on the piano quicken,
Awe turns into disbelief when I see the pianist,
A smile forms at the corner of my lips,
As I recognize the familiar soft grey hair,

And the cornflower blue eyes
